Hurricanes & Disney - What to Expect:
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be vacationing at Disney at have a hurricane headed straight your way?!?! I know this has crossed the minds of my guests more than once so I thought I'd break down what to expect and highlight what you might not expect if you should happen to get stuck at Disney during one of these massive storms. And yes, been there, done that!
Disney’s Current Hurricane Policy:
• Flexible cancellation policy: If a hurricane warning is issued
within 7 days of your scheduled arrival, Disney allows you to
reschedule or cancel your vacation package or hotel reservation
without penalty.
• Ticket Refunds/Changes: Unused theme park tickets for the impacted
dates can be modified for future use.
• Rescheduling options: Your favorite TA helps you reschedule dining,
experiences, and Multi/Single Pass reservations without fees.
• Extended stay accommodations: If flights are canceled and you’re
stranded, Disney an your fave TA will assist in extending your stay at
the resort if rooms are available.
So while having your vacation interrupted by a hurricane is definitely not ideal, it can have some unexpected surprises being stranded on property and I can promise it will be an experience you won't soon forget!
The resorts on property are so experienced at having hurricanes as guests. This should come as no surprise in central Florida. And Disney has become serious safety experts in addition to them being king at keeping folks entertained at the same time. Here are just a few fun things you can expect if a hurricane decides to try and make friends with you during your vacation.

areas, featuring classic Disney films to keep guests entertained.

contests are organized inside the resorts, giving kids fun options
when the parks are closed.
• Food and beverage specials: Resort restaurants often create special
hurricane menus and may offer discounts on food and drinks.
• Resort-specific activities: Some deluxe resorts bring in live
performers or host themed events indoors to keep the Disney magic
alive, even during a storm.
• Pool parties (before the storm): Before the hurricane hits, Disney
often throws last-minute pool parties with music, games, and character
appearances.
As I mentioned, and as a Disney rule of thumb, safety is ALWAYS first! So I just want to remind you, not to be afraid. You can trust that Disney has well laid plans to get thru the storm in the most magical way possible and wants their guests to feel that safety and magic combined together! Without a doubt, Disney is the safest place you can be in this situation. The resorts are designed to withstand hurricanes, with emergency protocols in place to protect guests. Disney ensures all guests are kept safe, with constant weather updates and emergency plans specific to each resort.
