On this, the One Year Anniversary of our “2 week quarantine” we decided to throw it back to some of the things that helped us survive our time without Disney………games, food, and drinks, and of course, they MUST be themed! Looking back it has been one crazy year. This week last year was the week that everything changed. We were all stuck inside, trying to find a way to occupy our time while staying safe inside our homes. During the lockdown, we were missing Disney so much that we came up with ways to incorporate it even more into our new found at home routines. In that spirit, this weekend we celebrated Villainous the game and an entire themed Villains meal, well, except for dessert, due to technical difficulties.
In the Ravensburger Disney Villainous game, the objective is literally to be the best at, well, being bad! Over the quarantine, Bella (@theprincessndtheblog) has managed to collect the original game and all it’s respective expansions as well as the Marvel version. I guess you could say it has become something of a “bad habit” to break! For those that love board games, this has to be one of the most challenging out there! Endless scenarios, multiple expansions, and epic amounts of Evil! Each version features a different set of Villains. Each Villain has different objectives and the possibilities are endless!
Now for my favorite part…….the themed food! I mean, what is one of these fun evenings without some amazing cuisine! We started the meal with a Maleficent inspired charcuterie board. I centered it around, dragonfruit of course! And when I think villain, I think greens, dark purples, and a bit of spice. So I added touches of black grapes and blackberries, bright green olives and pumpkin seeds, dark chocolates with chili, spicy honey, and of course lots of sharp cheeses! We paired this charcuterie with “Poison Apple Cider” inspired of course, by her majesty, the Evil Queen! Fresh apple juice mixed with spicy ginger ale and garnished with red and green apple slices, this was the perfect crisp accompaniment to my evil charcuterie! And then to the main course, where two of the most sinister villains took center stage! Our main course was Scar’s Prey (Smoked Baby Back Ribs) with Gaston’s Hearty side dishes of roasted potatoes and grilled corn on the cob! It was a meal fit for these kings of Evil!
We decided to play the Gaston expansion, since it is the newest—released last month. This expansion features Gaston, Horned King, and Lady Tremaine. The overall consciences is that horned King and Lady Tremaine are two characters that rank upward in difficulty, while Gaston’s objective is somewhat easier to achieve. Bella says that it is one of her favorite expansions and mix of characters yet.
We always enjoy putting together one of these types of weekends to keep our Disney magic going! And I especially love sharing them with you! It’s always fun when you can’t be at Disney to have some fun with a theme at home with family! So much food, fun, and laughs, so as we say in the Magic Kingdom, it’s “Good to be Bad!”
