Lunchtime Dining at Ale and Compass
If you are looking for a quiet lunchtime getaway for lunch, Ale and Compass at Disney’s Yacht Club is just the ticket! Leather, dark woods, and ocean like neutrals set the stage for this upscale yet casual dining experience. With an open kitchen including brick oven and awesome views of Storm Along Bay Pool, it’s a great place for a relaxing, high quality meal.
We walked in without a reservation and were seated immediately. Our server was very pleasant and accommodating.
We started our meal with the location’s very popular Parker House rolls. These were beautifully baked bread rolls, topped with sea salt and parsley, served with citrus butter, bacon jam, and pub cheese accompaniments. My travel companions had tried these before and raves about them, and I was so happy that they suggested these! They were amazing!!! Bread and bacon…..how can we go wrong here?!?! Out of the three accompaniments, the pub cheese was my definite favorite!
I ordered a wedge salad, no surprise there, and it was wonderful. The dressing had a spicy kick and all the ingredients were so fresh and bright. I also ordered the Bacon and Vermont Cheddar burger with house made chips. The burger was once if the best I’ve had on property, and we all know I’m a burger expert! It was most definitely fresh, not frozen. Toppings were perfect compliments and it was super messy…..which is the obvious mark of a great burger. The house made chips were crispy, not greasy and seasoned with salt and vinegar powder so they had a similar flavor to river fries as we call them in West Virginia.
This was one of the best lunch meals that I had on this adventure to Disney. When we return in the latter part of May, I will definitely be bringing my family to try Ale and Compass, especially since we will be staying at the Yacht Club. The food was so well prepared, the presentation is beautiful, and the service was wonderful. I love that the restaurant was not loud or crowded. At this time, it is easy to obtain a reservation here. Although I did mention we walked in without a reservation, this is not common practice at Disney, so I suggest trying to obtain a reservation if at all possible, especially if you are on a particular schedule.
While there were children dining here, I do feel this location has a definite adult feel. They do have a nice selection of adult drinks and cocktails. One of my travel companions recommends trying their Sangria. They have both white and red varieties. She had the white and highly approved! The overall menu for lunch, I felt, had lots of choices both hearty and light. This is a revisit on my list for sure and if you have paid a visit to the Ale and Compass, you may want to consider adding it to your dining itinerary!
