I cannot tell you how excited I am to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World, beginning October 1st of this year. And with all the details that we are getting as time gets closer, it only solidifies that this is truly going to live up to the name of the World’s Most Magical Celebration! So, I thought it would be cool to talk about all the things that we know about this upcoming 18-month long celebration so far!
The color scheme selected to theme this event is nothing short of Disney perfection…..EARidescent! Sparkly and dazzling shades of purple and blue will dance their way into each park and give our favorite characters some snazzy new duds! I have to admit, when this color scheme was revealed, especially with the new character outfits, I got complete Magic Happens vibes and I could not love it more! This EARidescent theme will also carry through decor and special looks that will accent each park’s icon! So far, we’ve seen Cinderella Castle already transform its look and it is stunning! I cannot wait to see how the decorations translate into each park setting and help each icon join this celebration!
Recently we have heard details of two new nighttime spectaculars heads our way for the anniversary! First, in Magic Kingdom, Disney Enchantment will debut on October 1st! According to the Disney Parks Blog, “this evening extravaganza will take you on a journey filled with adventure, wonder, and empowerment. Inspiring everyone to believe in magic, “Disney Enchantment” will feature music, enhanced lighting, stunning fireworks, and for the first time, immersive projection effects that extend from Cinderella Castle down Main Street, U.S.A.” I don’t know about you, but I’m here for it! Next up we head over to the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow for one of the largest nighttime spectaculars ever created for a Disney park. Officially, Disney Parks Blog describes this show as follows:
This new show will bring the globe together at World Showcase Lagoon in a celebration of Disney music that inspires people worldwide. It’s a grand, powerful tribute to the stories and songs that unite us, embracing new technical magic that incorporates pyrotechnics, choreographed moving fountains, lighting, and media in new ways. “Harmonious” will invite you to travel the globe through new interpretations of classic Disney songs as you’ve never heard them before, reimagined in more than a dozen languages by a diverse group of 240 artists from around the world. I don’t know about you guys, but with the absence of nighttime entertainment at the parks, these will be welcomed by me with open arms and crying eyes!
While of course we all expected new themed nighttime shows, one announcement I was super shocked and stoked about was the new daytime show announced for Disney’s Animal Kingdom! While Rivers of Light left me struggling to stay awake, this one sounds like if you blink you will miss something amazing! Taking up residence in Discovery River Amphitheater, Disney KiteTails will feature performers with huge kites and windcatchers on the water! Disney music will accompany this colorful and elaborate show several times a day and is sure to be great entertainment for the entire family!
Over the course of the reopening since the pandemic, we have become accustomed to Disney’s newest take on the mini-parade….cavalcades have become a favorite of mine and so many others because of their spontaneity and opportunity for the characters to interactive a little more intimately with guests. For the 50th, it seems this trend will continue with “Mickey’s Celebration Cavalcade” where Mickey and his favorite pals will strut down Main Street greeting guests in their new EARidescent fashions! I have a feeling we may hear of a theme song coming our way! Mickey and Pals will also be featured in golden sculptures throughout the four theme parks! These will be nothing short of gorgeous I am sure!
One last major announcement that we are ALL going crazy over……the opening of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure! This is one of the most anticipated attraction openings of late, this twin of Disneyland Paris and its new expansion in the France Pavillion has already captured our attention and is sure to be one of the most endearing attractions and best additions to Epcot’s World Showcase!
While we are getting more and more details as time passes, these tidbits have me so excited to be celebrating the 50th! And what’s even more exciting that this celebration will last for 18 months! And we all know that Disney loves a party and no one does it better! I am excited to see what other announcements are coming our way in the coming months!
