This is that time of year that we get into looking back and reflecting.
This is that time of year that we get into looking back and reflecting
through all we’ve done, seen, and experienced. I am definitely no
different. Although, I have been looking back thru my travels of 2024
and I wanted to look back to just a few of my favorite travel moments
for me personally, in 2024. And that is just to say I also have so
much to look forward to in the coming new year! Maybe later I’ll share
what I am excited for, that is up and coming! So come along with me as
I take a look back at Travel with Carie’s favorite travel moments of
2024!
My unbelievable adventure with Visit Anchorage
I can’t take a look back at this year without thinking about one of my
most epic adventures (ever not just this year) and that was my
unbelievable adventure with Visit Anchorage to the interior of Alaska.
As I have said in times past, I am not an outdoors person at all. But
something about Alaska kept me intrigued with a goal to visit there
for years. Let’s face it, that something was the Fat Bears of Alaska!
It’s a total thing….google it, you’ll thank me.
Several years ago, I was privileged to meet some very dear friends from Visit Anchorage and
the Alaska Railroad at a show. We became fast friends. And they got me
to Alaska to experience its beauty AND my dear friend Tia made it
possible for me to experience those Fat Bears in real life! Yes,
Alaska Brown Grizzlies in the wild, up close, and personal!
I ended my adventure in the Alaska interior with a flight to Lake Clark, where I met the owners of Bear Mountain Lodge. They treated me like family (we
still keep in touch), they welcomed me into their lodge, and took me
to experience the bears I had fallen so in love with!
It was an
experience that I will absolutely cherish for my entire life! And, fun
fact, Bear Mountain is where Disney filmed the National Geographic
documentary BEARS. Life made!
Royal Caribbean’s newest ship (at
the time) Utopia of the Seas
Next up, in July, I got to preview Royal Caribbean’s newest ship (at
the time) Utopia of the Seas.
The ship was amazing, the trip was
phenomenal, BUT there was one very special moment that is one of the
most amazing travel moments to date…….I ran smack into Rev Run!
While
I understand that might not be a big deal to some, I completely
flipped! You guys know I am a huge rap fan, especially Run DMC.
My
friend and I were exploring the ship, for research, and we
accidentally got off the elevator on the wrong floor. And there,
standing all by himself, I’m assuming waiting on someone, stood Rev!
I
know my eyes bugged out of my head!
I said to him, “ I know you!” He
said, “you do?” And I said, “absolutely and now I am going to cry….”.
He said, “now we aren’t doing that!” And I was able to take a picture
with them and he sent me off with blessings!
Dream come true!
Say I told you so, say whatever....
Last moment is really a tie between two.
Taking Chaplin to Disney
World for his first trip and taking him to Disneyland for his first
trip.
Call me a sucker, say I told you so, whatever it is, there’s
nothing to describe getting to take your grandkids to your happy
places and watching them experience them for the first time. Those
experiences are absolutely priceless to me!
We were so blessed to do
these trips with him and see him start his journey as that new
addition to our Disney family!
Now we are able to look forward to
taking him on his first Disney Cruise in 2025, and our Princess
Nellie’s first trips in the future!
Best travel moments in the world!
Now that I have reflected and waxed sentimental on you, I hope you can
reflect back on your year and cherish the moments past. And in just a
few days it will be time to look forward to the new year and all the
unforgettable travel moments that it can have for all of us! Happy New
Year everyone!
