As the Valentine’s Day weekend approaches, I have had the pleasure of planning several adults-only trips to Walt Disney World to celebrate this holiday for sweethearts! And for some of you, Disney may not be the place you think of for a romantic trip, but there are some amazingly “sweet” things to do at Disney with your sweetheart! So, let me list some of my thoughts on planning a romantic trip to Disney for Valentine’s Day or any special occasion like an anniversary or birthday!
When it comes to a Disney trip with your sweetheart, you make think of a nice dinner, having some flowers delivered, or something of that nature, but let’s think of this in Disney terms……The first place that comes to mind when I think of a couple’s trip and how to really enjoy Disney is Epcot of course! Strolling around the World Showcase taking in the sights, sounds, smells, and tastes of the 11 countries there is a casual way to spend the day……but, add a Festival and you have next-level fun! Every year at Valentine’s Day the Epcot International Festival of the Arts is in full swing. This is the perfect festival to spend the day with your sweetheart trying the beautifully Instagrammable (that’s a word now, right?) treats and cocktails, and soaking in the beautiful art and scenery of this often-overlooked park. And since Epcot has 4 amazing festivals throughout the year, you don’t have to visit just at Valentine’s Day to enjoy a day jaunting around the Showcase with your sweetie!
My next thoughts for a romantic time are taking an evening stroll around one of my all-time favorite areas on the property, Crescent Lake, maybe more commonly known to some as the Epcot Resorts area. This lake is surrounded by some of the most beautiful resorts at Disney, along with beaches, Boardwalk eateries, street performers, and a stunning evening setting as soft lights and sound fill the area. It has always seemed to me that even if there are a gathering of people out and about on the Boardwalk, it still has a quiet hush and such a relaxing vibe. It’s the perfect spot to grab a drink and walk around enjoying your loved one’s company.
After a fun day in the parks together, a Disney lounge is the absolutely perfect way to end a day with your love or your friends for that matter! This little subject will be getting a blog dedicated
solely to it in the near future! It’s great to have those evening plans of a nice romantic dinner, but if you are into a little more low-key way to end the evening, a lounge is the way to go! Many of us
are also guilty of overindulging in the parks from time to time….I mean, not me, you guys……and so at the end of the day small plates, charcuterie, and cocktails are a more suitable nightcap than a huge dinner. These lounges on property also allow spontaneity as they do not currently require a reservation AND they allow you to sit and relax, not feeling rushed, but encourage you to linger and wind down!
Although we aren’t having fireworks at the current time, there are still some amazing sights about the property at night time and none could be a better place to sit and chat with your sweetheart that the observation deck on the main tower of Disney’s Contemporary Resort! Even without the fireworks, you can enjoy the beautiful view of Cinderella Castle and Space Mountain beautifully lit up and the comforting hum of an occasional passing monorail! And, especially during Valentine’s Day, you can mobile order a bottle of wine and some sweets to enjoy on the deck as well.
Keep in mind, I am not saying that an amazing sushi meal at California Grill or delivery of flowers to your resort room is not a great idea during your couple trip, I thought it would be cool to offer up some ideas for things you don’t normally think of! Sometimes unconventional is the romantic way to go, especially where Disney is concerned. I wanted to use my not so typical view of the parks as an adult visitor often traveling without kids to inspire you to think outside the typical Disney box and have a romantic couple’s trip that is guaranteed to be a hit!
