With the news this week of 28,000 cast members being laid off, it’s been a little less than magical. There is no one that makes our lives more magical than our beloved cast at World and Land. Being connected to the folks at Disney they feel a little more like family to us and our hearts are going out to them more than ever.
I thought it only fitting in this week’s blog, that I say a simple thank you to the people who have brought that Disney magic to our lives for many many years. Castles and coasters are wonderful, but the true magic lies in the people that care for our beloved Disney campuses on both coasts!
So many different cast have touched my life in so many ways that I could never name every single one, but there are a few that stand out to me and exhibit true “Disney” to me. From a smile and wave on Main Street, to greeting us upon our resort arrivals, to a Dole Whip surprise, to a special pair of drum sticks, to a little known story about a hidden Oswald, to a cheerful escort to the front of the Frozen Fastpass line, all the way to a cheerful friend on the other end of that Disney phone line, there would never be enough time to adequately pay my gratitude.
As we navigate throughout the remainder of this crazy year of 2020, if you encounter a member of this amazing Disney family, remember, they have shown us all magic for so many years, the least we can do is to keep them in our thoughts and show some extra love. Whether calling, shopping, or visiting…..they are our magic makers. The ones that keep our Disney dreams alive every minute or every day. They missed us when the parks closed, they cried and rejoiced with us when we stepped foot back in those gates! They have longed to be back with their guests and friends. So this may not be a new and exciting message this week, but it is a plea for you to keep our Disney family in your hearts! Spread some love and magic in their honor and remember, as Winnie the Pooh would say……”Good friends will help you until your unstuck.”
Here’s to all getting “unstuck” together!
This blog is dedicated to one of the greatest, Richard Gerth. You exemplified everything Disney means to me. Your memory lives on.
