I thought I’d have a bit of fun this week and give you guys a top 5
list!
I am thinking I owe some tribute to the top 5 things that I at
at Disney during my last visit, which just happened to be during this
holiday season! First off, I’ll start by reminding everyone how much I
love Disney food but especially the comfort food of the holidays all
around property! This season most definitely did not disappoint and
some praise is definitely due. Rules are, it can be snack, meal,
dessert, drink from anywhere across the parks! Simple right! Let’s go!
And in no particular order!
Ok, let’s discuss the showstopper that was the Dockside Diner, trust
me I was shocked too. On the edge of Echo Lake, you’ll find the
adorable yet loud boat with snacks and drinks year-round that are
honestly just ok, but not at Jollywood Nights! They rolled out the
Sandy Claws Hot Cocoa: Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas
inspired dark hot chocolate topped with cherry whipped cream
(non-alcoholic). This had us scraping out the bottoms of our cups for
every last drop of chocolate and cherry fabulousness! This is a must
have, especially in the chilly night air right after the What’s This
show! I paired mine with the Christmas Tree Cookie Stack and was
pleasantly sugared up for a night of Jollywood fun!
For food, Epcot festivals literally never disappoint IF you play your
cards right. And I can promise you, visiting L’Chaim! Holiday Kitchen
is a sure bet! Latkes are such a classic Jewish treat at the holidays
and Disney steps it up a notch by topic these Lucious potato pancakes
with smoked salmon! Honestly, I could have eaten 3 or 4 of these and
been a happy camper. Blended with a creama style sauce and capers, the
salmon is so creamy and pairs perfectly with the crispy, hot potato
cakes! Definitely glad we didn’t miss this one!
It is literally no secret how much I adore Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’
and Chef Art himself for that matter. So, when my favorite Chef has a
charcuterie board on the menu…..that’s just screaming Carie! The
Jasper Board is new-er to the menu and it was a first for me to try it
this trip. Stop. The. Presses. This board has the literal perfect
combos and honestly could be a full meal. However, you are never gonna
catch me just doing apps at Art’s! So, I went ham on the entire menu
BUT, back to the board. If this is not comforting charcuterie, then it
doesn’t exist! This southern masterpiece is graced with pimento
cheese, chicken salad, shaved country ham, candied pecans, bread and
butter pickles, the list goes on. If you don’t love this one, you are
wrong. And I'm not sorry LOL!
If you follow my adventures, you know that my Halloween time trip we
had soup for every single meal. And I fully expected to continue this
during the holidays, but there were to too many soup offerings
surprisingly! So, when we sat down at the Grand Floridian Cafe and
asked about the soup of the day, literally everyone at the table
screamed with glee! Butternut Squash soup it is! Hearty and sweet
sushi topped with a drizzle of cream and a sweet crunchy topping, this
is one of the best bowls of soup I have had at Disney and that is
saying something, considering I treat soup eating as my life source
there! Always ask for the soup of the day and NEVER say no to the
Butternut Squash!
Lastly, this treat took me completely by surprise! I didn’t even
purchase it! In fact, my friend, Lauren had gotten it and shared with
me and I am so glad she did! Pro tip here: Go to the festival booths
with friends, divide, conquer, and share and you will have the best
culinary experience ever! But, you have to hear about this next treat!
At Bavaria Holiday Kitchen they had these huge, gorgeous Linzer
Cookies. First of all, I have never had a Linzer cookie so now my life
is no longe sad and two, I’m questioning my existence as to why I have
never had one before. Where have these been all my life! Just the
perfect amount of tart and sweet made me want to be a little fluffy
Bavarian lady working in a Linzer cookie bakery! These were yummy and
beautiful! And they will be something I look out for every year
without fail!
