Tips for Visiting Universal’s Epic Universe Before It Opens to the Public
I just returned from an incredible behind-the-scenes visit to Universal Orlando’s Epic Universe, and let me tell you this park is going to change everything.
From mind-blowing lands to next-level attractions, Epic Universe lives up to the hype and then some.
Whether you’re already planning your first visit or just Epic-curious, I’ve rounded up some essential tips to help you hit the ground running, especially if you’re lucky enough to visit during soft openings or shortly after the official grand debut.
Here’s everything you need to know to maximize the magic (and minimize the chaos) at Epic Universe:
1. Lanyards Are Your Best Friend
Seriously invest in a lanyard with a secure plastic pouch. Between your park ticket, Express Pass (more on that below), hotel key, and possible early entry access, you’ll be reaching for your essentials constantly.
Having them at your fingertips makes life so much easier, especially when you’re darting between realms like Celestial Park and the Wizarding World’s latest expansion.
2. Leave the Large Bags Behind
Bag check is efficient, but there’s a clear advantage to traveling light.
Lockers are available, but avoiding them altogether saves time and keeps you mobile.
A small sling bag or fanny pack is perfect for storing your basics think sunscreen, portable charger, and refillable water bottle. The smaller style bags fit perfectly into the complimentary lockers!! Keep it streamlined so you can breeze through security and jump straight into the action.
3. Express Pass Is a Game-Changer
Crowds are going to be intense once the park officially opens, and some rides are already showing signs of becoming instant icons. (Looking at you, Battle at the Ministry.)
If your budget allows, don’t skip the Express Pass. It gave me access to multiple rides in a fraction of the time and let’s be honest, more time riding and less time waiting is always a win.
4. Hydration = Happiness
Between the Florida sun and the sheer size of Epic Universe, hydration is key.
You’ll be walking a lot, and staying hydrated will help you last longer and feel better as you explore all the immersive lands.
Bonus tip: look for shaded seating and chill zones they’re lifesavers.

5. Stay On-Site for Early Entry
If you’re thinking about booking a Universal property—do it.
Early entry is a major perk, and at a park as buzzed-about as Epic Universe, those first 60–90 minutes can be golden.
I definitely recommend heading to the attraction that does not allow Express Pass and get it out of the way! And I got some amazing photos of nearly empty streets (photographers, you’ll swoon).
