The Peak and Pit of our new, almost wall-less Epcot
So being back in Epcot last week I was so so happy to find it almost wall free! Lots of new areas to check out and explore! I guess now what we are waiting for is the Biergarten area and no more walls! But as I explored the park, morning to night, I wanted to share my peak and pit take away on all the changes thus far!
Let’s chat the pit first so I can wrap things up on a high note, shall we? But you have to promise to hang with me til the end, okay? With new Epcot comes new temporary night show, Luminous. Disney’s official description is:
“Delight in a dramatic show designed to bring us all together. Marvel at a dazzling pageant of fireworks, fountains, music and lights set to an original composition. New music, along with evocative selections from the Disney songbook, come together to remind us that we are more alike than we are different.”
While I appreciate this description, and to be fair, due to high winds we were minus fireworks, Luminous….ugh. Even fireworks in my opinion could not have saved this. Maybe my ideas are too lofty, maybe I have too much California on the brain, but we have this unbelievable park in Epcot, a huge lagoon, and the best imagineers AND engineers on the planet and we can’t even get a projection on this water?!?! Call me disappointed. But, two things. 1. I will need to give it another chance with fireworks, AND 2. This show is not permanent, so there’s a grand possibility I’ll get that World of Color-esk feeling in the new permanent show? We can only hope! But waiting for a spot for this was not worth it for this particular viewing. And on a side note, if you haven’t seen World of Color, you need to, it’s life changing! Ok, now I’ll step off my bitter box.
Onto the peak! I’m about to turn this train around! Let’s talk about the World Celebrations Gardens. Admittedly, I have griped over the demolition of the Fountain of Nations since the whole deal started. However, you heard it here first folks….I was wrong. Walls down, Walt the Dreamer statue and light up pavement. I lost it. The sentimental was executed. That sparkled pavement took me all the way back to two little Hamm babies on their very first trip to Disney back in the day. They loved those light up bricks and were so amazed. I got completely taken aback some serious core memory emotions. You nailed it Disney! Now to the facts on the area.
Disney’s official description reads as follows: “World Celebration will offer a beautiful hub divided into several different gardens, with a central planter based on the five-ring EPCOT logo. Filled with ample seating and shade, you’ll be invited to connect with one another and the nature around you in this lush new area. Each of these gardens will have their own identities, and they’ll change along with the festivals throughout the year.”
“At night, the gardens will take on a whole new life, as you can see here. They’re designed to be enjoyed in the round, where lighting immerses you in the nighttime experience that will evolve through the seasons.”
This area is beautiful and perfect for relaxing during the day, but really comes to life and literally shines at night. It even reacts to the shows on Spaceship Earth. The gardens and their respective areas are absolute perfection. I have to say that I’m so happy the way it turned out, especially at night! So refreshing!
I know that I’ve been a bit rough on this one, but after watching this transformation piece by piece, I feel I’ve earned the right to an opinion. We all have right?!? We’ve dealt with the wall, so it’s time for judgement lol. Just kidding! While I’m going to hold faith for a new and better replacement for Luminous to come, in the meantime, I’ll just sit and enjoy the World Celebration gardens at night instead!
