Our adventure to California last week was amazing! I will never tire of visiting Disneyland or Disney California Adventure and the addition of the new Avengers Campus is just another reason! Having its official opening on June 4th of this year, we were finally able to make it to the west coast to check it out and it certainly did not disappoint! Live shows, dance parties with the Guardians of the Galaxy, lessons in the ancient sanctum, training with the Black Panther’s loyal bodyguards, roaming Avengers, themed food and so much more, the Imagineers went into Marvel OVERLOAD on this amazing new land!
First impressions are everything and my first impression of this land was…….WHOA! The character interaction was unreal! Throughout our visit and the multiple times we visited the land, I was never there without seeing multiple characters, shows with characters, or an occasional fly-thru of a certain friendly Spiderman! It was literally like stepping into a Marvel movie!
The land currently has two main attractions. WEB SLINGERS and Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout! Of course, we have experienced Guardians in past visits and LOVED it, we were also able to obtain a boarding group for WEB SLINGERS. No spoilers here, but the ride is in a technological league all it’s own! Disney Parks Blog describes both as follows:
“The first key area is the Worldwide Engineering Brigade – also known as WEB.
It brings together bright innovators like Peter Parker who have been assembled by Tony Stark to invent new technologies and equip everyday people to become Super Heroes like the Avengers. WEB will house the new WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure, the first Disney ride-through attraction to feature the iconic friendly neighborhood Spider-Man!
We previously shared that Tom Holland will reprise his role as Spider-Man in the new family-friendly attraction, which invites you to put your web-slinging skills to the test and experience what it’s like to have powers alongside Spider-Man – a feat accomplished with innovative technology adapted specifically for this attraction, perfect for up-and-coming recruits of all ages.
The second anchor attraction looms high above the land, Guardians of the Galaxy
Mission: BREAKOUT!
A fan-favorite that opened in 2017. This rockin’ adventure blasts you straight into the “Guardians of the Galaxy” story, alongside characters from the blockbuster films and comics. As you help Rocket bust his fellow Guardians of the Galaxy out of the Collector’s Fortress, you will experience raucous mayhem, music inspired by the soundtracks from the movies, thrilling free-fall drop sequences and six different storylines!”- Disney Parks Blog
Food offerings throughout the land are themed in true superhero fashion as well! You can visit the Avengers favorite, Shawarma Palace food cart, or get crazy with experimental eats at PYM Test Kitchen and PYM Tasting Lab, and don’t overlook the Terran Treats food cart where you can score intergalactic eats or maybe even a Stark Gauntlet of your very own!
I have to say that this land is amazingly immersive and I am so happy how it easily flowed with the Marvel areas that existed before! I thought that the Disney characters in their Avenger gear were also a great addition to the outskirts of the land! Disneyland and California Adventure park are definitely at the top of my list for character interaction always, but this area was character overload in a great way! There was also no shortage of photo ops with your favorites as well as the amazing scenery throughout. You’ll also be able to purchase the latest inventions including the adorable and mischievous Spider-Bots with their carrying backpacks, Spider-Man light goggles and so much more as well as amazing Avengers gear you can’t score anywhere else! Overall, Avengers Campus was totally amazing and I will definitely head to the west again to visit real soon!
