This week on the blog my Mom Squad is back and in the spirit of all the returning hugs and character interactions, I asked my moms two tough questions….

  1. What is the best character dining experience you’ve had with your kids?
  2. Why was it the best?

They came up with some great answers, lots of wisdom, and tons of cute
pictures for bonus points! So off we go!

When I asked my moms about their best character dining with their
kids, no eatery was off limits, so some of these answers include
dining experiences that have not yet returned, however, with the
recent turn of events, I can’t help but speculate that announcements
of their openings are coming very soon! As one mom said to me, “Side
note this has me so nostalgic for pre-Covid Disney!! Since 1900 hasn’t
reopened Aubrey hasn’t had the chance to see her at this age, where
she would really lose her mind!! Can you imagine?!?” – April J.
And
yes, this has got me a little nostalgic too!

Which experience is your favorite? Well, I loved this answer because
it is a bit off the beaten path AND one of my moms gives you a few
cool pieces of insight as well!

“Akershus in Epcot – it’s lesser known because everyone wants
Cinderella’s Royal Table, but this is only one Table Service credit as
opposed to two,(of course when the dining plan was still a thing).
Plus, not only do the princesses come to each table individually, but
there is a princess parade with all of the little kids every so often
while you are there. This was all pre-Covid, but I’m hoping it will
all be the same once it re-opens. Plus at the beginning, Belle is
there waiting for pictures while you wait to be seated!” Michele M.

Michele’s Pro Tip: We have been for both breakfast and dinner – we
preferred breakfast, as most of us are picky eaters. AND, it’s right
there by Frozen, so we rope dropped Frozen and then had breakfast!

A few of my moms threw it back to another location that we are dying
to see reopen and with great reasons! 1900 Park Fare located in
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa.

“So I realize this may be an answer you don’t get a lot but for
us…it’s Cinderella’s Happily Ever After dinner at 1900. Aubrey has
been obsessed with princesses from the start but for her, Cinderella is
the next level. The first trip we couldn’t snag a royal table reservation
and ended up at 1900 to still give her that exposure to Cindy and we
haven’t looked back!” – April J.

1900 Park Fare Pro Tip: “We like 1900 Park Fare because it’s at the
Grand Floridian, which we love to see that resort, it’s a nice break
from the parks and easy to get to on the monorail. The food selection
is better than others and you have more to do while you’re waiting for
your table to be ready. The character interactions are great too!” –
Kara G.

The last two most mentioned bests are Topolino Terrace at Disney’s
Riviera Resort and Tuskar House in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Here’s
what a few of my moms had to say. “Tusker House is the perfect midday
break in Animal Kingdom (especially during hotter months). The
characters are great and the food is amazing. It’s my hubby’s fave
meal (both with the buffet and with the family style). We go every
visit.
Topolino’s is also wonderful. It’s a more upscale atmosphere and one
we typically save for a resort day or a late start to Epcot. Get the
steak or the waffles, if you’re an adult. The waffle painting for kids
is super cute!” – Emily R.

“My top pick would be breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace. The food is
great for kids and adults, they have something for everyone. Mickey
Waffle dippers were my son’s favorite and the adult selections were
amazing as well. The characters in their stylish outfits are a lot of
fun and I personally felt the characters took a little extra time at
each table and the interactions were great even though they were
distanced. And the cherry on top of the Mickey Waffle…..THE VIEWS!!!!
The views just can’t be beat!
My runner up choice would be breakfast at Tusker House, the food is
delicious with classic Mickey and Simba waffles- try the chicken
curry, it’s delicious. Character interactions are fun, music is fun, and character costumes are
fun. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.” – Mechelle E.

Carie’s Pro Tip: With any character dining, I feel like this is an
opportunity to interact, and get your photos and autographs without
waiting in lines for characters in the parks. And doing all this while
getting full tummies….you are killing several birds with one stone!
Character interaction, autographs, photo ops, and bellies full of
Mickey waffles! It’s a time saver and a smile maker!

I loved this particular set of answers from my Mom Squad. Unique
perspectives on all things Disney Moms is a great way for you to glean
from their experiences and it helps us plan the best trip for your
family! Thank you for reading this week and if you have a moment, I
would love to hear what things you’d like to see this amazing Mom
Squad answer next!
