Located in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, The Hollywood Brown Derby is a signature restaurant that transports you back into the time of old Hollywood glitz and glam. This happens to be one of my favorite signature dining locations, so I was super excited that we were dining here this visit. Elegant white table cloths and leather trimmed booths, beautifully made cocktails and autographed caricatures, this restaurant literally makes you feel like a celebrity when dining here.

My top reason for excitement at Brown Derby is it’s famous Cobb Salad.

A salad????? Yes! A salad!!!!! Each time I visit, I make sure to order this location’s famous fare! This unique take on a traditional Cobb salad or should I say, it’s the Original Cobb Salad from 1937 at the Hollywood Brown Derby restaurant, where it became a signature dish.

The salad was named after the restaurant’s owner, Robert Howard Cobb. The legend is that Cobb had not eaten until near midnight, and so he mixed together leftovers he found in the kitchen, along with some bacon cooked by the line cook, and tossed it with their French dressing.

It is literally my favorite salad on property! Add a little grilled shrimp or grilled chicken to push it right over the top! And keep in mind, unless you order the lunch sized portion, this is MORE than a meal!

Aside from the salad on our last visit, we ordered the new charcuterie offering. This particular board was literally a meeting of multiple perfect combinations! Y’all know I love a good charcuterie, and this one has quickly jumped in my top options! It’s a perfect pairing of meats, cheeses, pickled veggies, and accompaniments. An absolutely perfect start to a stellar meal.

For my entrée, I split the filet and Cobb salad with my travel buddy, Bella. Both these immense portions were perfect for sharing! The filet is always perfectly cooked and as I  mentioned, the salad is incomparable! With dinner, Bella tried a Sunset Boulevard non alcoholic cocktail and I had the Grapefruit Cake Martini! Both were absolutely wonderful! The Grapefruit Cake Martini was definitely unexpectedly lovely, being a spin off of this restaurant’s famous dessert, I was not surprised!

We finished our meal with the amazing Grapefruit Cake that is also a well known staple! The absolute perfect combination of tart and sweet, this is one of my all time favorite Disney desserts! So much so, Bella recreated this for me back on Mother’s Day this year!

So, Even if you are skeptical and even if you are not a grapefruit fan…..this is a must try!  As usual, my meal and experience at the Hollywood Brown Derby was perfection from start to finish. This location definitely earns its spot among the signature dining locations at Walt Disney World Resort. The price point and menu are very reasonable for this level dining experience. I highly recommend adding this to your list of restaurants to try when you plan your Walt Disney World vacation!

Check out some of our amazing families and their MAGICAL travels!
