Amidst the glitz and the glitter…..Jollywood Nights, Disney’s newest
holiday party was born! As you might have already guessed this newest
late night event is taking place this holiday season in Hollywood
Studios. With an old Hollywood vibe and a glamorous adult feel, this
party is one for the books!
We started off our party evening with an early 4pm dinner at the
Hollywood Brown Derby. Our thoughts here was to go forward with
getting into the park before the rush of party guests at the start of
the event. And boy were we right! When party-only guests were allowed
to enter, there was quite a swarm at the front of the park. IF you are
in the park prior to the start of the party, you could check in at one
of two in-park locations to get your wristband and credentials for the
event. The official party time was 8:30-12:30am.
During this event there were specialty cocktails, drinks, and snacks,
themed shows, various entertainment, photo opps, character meet and
greets, and rides were open as well. As for me, I usually never ride
attractions during special events. I love focusing on the specialty
shows, snacks, etc. This party was no exception! My priorities this
night were the Nightmare Before Christmas show titled What’s This? Tim
Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas Sing Along and the Disney Holidays
in Hollywood show featuring Kermit and Miss Piggy! Both these shows
were a brand new experience and completely worth the time spent. The
shows ranged from 20-30 minutes long. They were both very entertaining
and engaging!
Projections kept the “Hollywood Toy Hotel” and the Chinese theatre
beautifully lit and sparkling. And the night was ended with Jingle
Bell! Jingle Bam! Musical entertainment could be found at the Tip Tip
Club in the HTH Courtyard and in Commissary Lane you could find tons
of latin music and dancing!
I tried a ton of the snacks offered and was not disappointed in the
least! My favorites included a fabulously stacked Christmas tree
cookie stuffed surprisingly with a tart raspberry jam and I also loved
the dark hot chocolate topped with cherry flavored whipped cream!
These were definitely standouts as well as the Birria taco from
Commissary Lane offered to compliment the latin theme of this area of
the park.
Overall, I had a great time at this party but there were a couple of
hiccups. Because of some of the lines, I was unable to snag those big
time character photos. But, on the bright side, the food was great and
I had great views of the shows and projections. While I did think this
event was fun, I think it is most definitely geared toward the adult
crowd. If you are taking more of a family oriented trip with smaller
children, I’ll still recommend the old standby of Mickey’s Very Merry
Christmas Party. But I sure am glad I was able to experience Jollywood
Nights!
