Why You Need to Try Olivia’s Cafe for Brunch on Your Next Disney Trip
Believe it or not, this week I got to dine at a Disney restaurant that I had never tried before and I could not wait to get back and tell you all about it!! I can safely say this is on my underrated dining list that will blow your mind .... I’m mentally noting to create that list! Anyway, let’s talk about my newest dining crush, Olivia’s at Disney’s Old Key West Resort!
Disney describes this beloved eatery as such, A longtime resident of Conch Flats, Olivia welcomes diners with Island-inspired dishes. This nautical-themed eatery has the friendly, familiar feel of a neighborhood institution and is a beloved favorite of many guests.
A must-visit spot for brunch, Olivia’s Cafe serves up traditional favorites as well as several of Olivia’s own specialties: Banana Bread Pudding and pancakes and eggs.” But I must elaborate!
This laid-back Key West inspired haunt is open daily for brunch from 7:30am-2pm or dinner from 5-9pm. And I will tell you, the brunch is an absolute must! It is one of the very few locations that serve brunch
every day of the week…. a very “Key West” kinda thing. And it is relatively easy to score a reservation here! I truly believe it’s because folks really haven’t ventured over to this resort much. However, it is just a boat ride away from Disney Springs or a short uber ride from anywhere on the property. And I must say, this would be the ultimate break day meal. You could sleep in, head to brunch, then boat over to Disney Springs for some leisurely shopping! What a perfect day!
So, let’s discuss the details. This brunch menu boasts everything from banana bread French Toast to oatmeal brûlée (we will get into that in a minute), to burgers, to fried chicken, to desserts. But I chose one of my all-time favorite dishes just to see how they pull it off, shrimp and grits! And when I tell you I have had shrimp and grits just about everywhere you can, I mean it. However, I find it hard to
believe that I will ever find a version this good. I’m talking better than Chef Art Smith and you know it takes a heck of a lot to make me say that! Also, let’s back it up to that oatmeal brûlée. What in the world? Am I right? This was such a clever twist on these two dishes. Imagine the best dreamiest oatmeal ever with a crispy brown sugar topcoat just like brûlée! Oh. My. Word! Other menu items that I found
outstanding were the beef and barley soup and shrimp fritters!
All I can say is, I am so sorry that I didn’t try Olivia’s sooner. And I will most definitely put it on the must return agenda in the future! The staff, the atmosphere, and the quality for cost at this eatery is an amazing value and so worth the trip to Old Key West! I loved this experience and my recent stay there! Can’t wait to see you again OKW!
