My Top 2 Tips for Your First Disney Trip

My Top 2 Tips for Your First Disney Trip

Planning your very first Disney trip?

Eeeek, how exciting!! Before you pack those Mickey ears and matching tees, let me share my top two pieces of advice that will help you skip the stress and soak up the magic.

1. Don’t Try to Do It All

Disney is HUGE. Like “multiple parks, endless rides, shows, snacks, and parades” huge. If you try to squeeze it all into one trip, you’ll wear yourself (and your family) out. The goal isn’t to check every single thing off the list, it’s to enjoy the magic in the moment.

Pace yourself. Disney days can be long and full of steps on that fitness tracker. Give your family breaks and don’t feel guilty for resting when you need to.

Pick some absolute must-dos that match your family’s interests, whether that’s meeting princesses, chasing thrills, or eating ALL the Mickey-shaped snacks. Build your days around those highlights, not a minute by minute schedule. That flexibility leaves room for surprise magic like running into a character or catching a parade you didn’t plan for.

Sometimes the best memories come from slowing down and savoring the moment, like sharing a Dole Whip under the castle.

2. Be Careful Whose Advice You Take

Here’s the truth: everyone and their cousin has “Disney advice.” But just because it worked for their family doesn’t mean it’s the right fit for yours. Some people love rope dropping every morning, while others prefer sleeping in and catching fireworks at night. Some families love thrill rides, while others are all about character hugs and snack breaks. And that’s okay! Your trip should be YOURS.

Remember: just because Sally says you HAVE to eat at Cinderella’s Royal Table doesn’t mean you’re going to love the experience. It may be magical for her family, but that doesn’t mean it’s the right fit for yours.

And when people hear you’re going to Disney? If they’ve been, even once, they’ll start pouring out info. The tricky part? A lot of that advice can be outdated or even inaccurate without them realizing it. Don’t feel pressured to do everything Sally says is a must. It might not match your family’s travel style, budget, or vibe and that’s totally okay.

Bottom line: Don’t overpack your days, and don’t let someone else’s trip become your blueprint. Disney is most magical when it feels like YOUR adventure.

So, are you planning your first Disney trip soon? .
