This week I presented a question to my Mom Squad and it is one of the
hottest Disney topics ever….literally.

How do you beat the heat when visiting Walt Disney World Resort?

Let’s see what this bunch of expert mommas have to say!

Three things that came up a lot from several of my moms are
suggestions for cooling towels, rechargeable fans, and insulated water
bottles! This may seem elementary to you, but these items are easy to
overlook when thinking of packing your park bag. Those with little
ones in strollers could really get some use out of the rechargeable
fans that clip on to strollers as well!

“Cooling towels from Amazon were a big hit with my crew this time,
mini fans, we used the recharged Mickey ear fans off amazon and they
worked great. Going to Animal Kingdom on hot days, so much shade, we
didn’t “feel” hot at all. We also packed water bottles and asked for
free ice water at every stand.

Staying hydrated is another “hot” tip!

Whether it be water, ice, etc., keeping everyone hydrated is key to
beating the heat at Disney!

I loved these suggestions from a few of my Squad:

“Always take insulated water bottles and fill them up in the mornings
at the ice machines so you have water throughout the day…” – Madison M.

“ Lots of water is a big plus! When Ali was in a stroller, we used a
stainless steel bottle with a loop and hung it on the stroller with a
carabiner clip. We would constantly refill it.” – Amanda E.

To add here, most quick service locations in the park will
provide free cups of ice water! All you need to do is ask! And
throughout the park, you can find refillable water bottle stations!
Asking for a cup of ice, then filling it up at the refill station is a
great way to save money on bottled water and ensure no one gets
dehydrated!

Sunscreen and lightweight/light-colored clothing were also a resounding theme
when I asked the Mom Squad about helping with the heat at the parks!
Since most folks begin packing far in advance, these are two top
things to remember when putting together your packing lists! And
remember, the parks can be hot and tiresome, so dressing for comfort
is always the way to go!

Another great suggestion was to avoid the heat altogether. If you
are not restricted to only traveling in the summer, then set your
travels for a cooler and less humid time of the year
! The great thing
about Walt Disney World being in central Florida is that there are
months of the year where the weather is absolute perfection and if you
can plan your trip during those times!

YOUR ATTITUDE!

When I presented this question to my Mom Squad, I did get a lot of
answers that I expected, but there was one thing mentioned that you
may not be thinking of that can make or break your trip…..and not just
a trip in the hot weather months. And that is YOUR ATTITUDE! I have to
say that this answer about beating the heat is my favorite of all!

“A good attitude!! It will be hot. It will almost 100% rain at some
point (if not a little every day) so don’t let it ruin the fun! You are
still at Disney!” – April J.

Lastly, I want to leave you some advice from one of my mommas that has
3 littles under the age of 3! When I asked her about beating the heat,
she was more than prepared to give her answers from tried and tested
experience.

“Avoid the summer months but seriously, cooling towels,
lightweight/light colored clothing, and ducking in shops to cool off
for a few. With the kids, we have a rechargeable fan for each kiddo and
got a stroller with a good SPF rating to protect them. The splash pad
back in New Fantasyland is also great for a mid afternoon cool down.
Milo loves to kick off his shoes and run through the water for a
while. I also take a complete change of clothes (undies included!) so
when it starts to cool off we can change into clean, dry clothing.” – Jennifer J.

I want to always wrap up these blogs by thanking my Mom Squad for
their outstanding contributions to helping others traveling to Disney! You
ladies are amazing!

I hope that you can put their beat-the-heat advice
into your arsenal and use it to help make an amazing trip that you are
super prepared for! I have also attached some links to a few of the
products mentioned in this blog! Enjoy and stay cool!
