This week on the blog I am venturing into Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park to one of the most sought after reservations for dining, and that is Yak and Yeti! I know you hear all types of things about this eatery from the unique cuisine to the impeccable service, but is it worth it for a sit down meal here? Does it live up to the hype?

For starters, this restaurant is not Disney owned. It is actually owned by Landry, Inc. which also owns Rainforest Cafe among others. And, trust me, I know you guys know my opinions on Rainforest Cafe and the experience there. A big no thanks, BUT does that mean that Yak and Yeti is roped into this same chain restaurant disappointment?

Well, let’s chat about that, shall we?

Nestled near the foot of Expedition Everest, the Legend of the Forbidden Mountain you’ll find our destination! Described as Pan-Asian Cuisine with a twist, this eatery has a fusion of Chinese, Japanese, Thai, and Indian. Boring is not served here that is for sure! From the Ahi Tuna Nachos to the dessert wontons and everything in between, please remember do not come here without an appetite! And my very best piece of advice for visiting Yak ism you are lucky enough to score a reservation…..be prepared to share! There are so many amazing appetizers here, not to mention the portion sizes of the entrees is enormous! I find Yak and Yeti to be most enjoyable with a sizable group of hungry friends! It’s the perfect way to be able to try so many different things and split the cost!

Some of my very favorite dishes here are the Ahi Tuna Nachos, to which you can also add chicken too if tuna is not your thing, the Coconut Shrimp, the Miso Salmon, and the dessert wontons which are skewers of fresh pineapple and cream cheese wontons, vanilla ice cream, and honey vanilla drizzle! But to be honest, I’ve made it a point over the years to try as many of the menu items as possible and Yak and there has not been one disappointing bite to be had.

As an advisor for a lot of family trips, I just wanted to mention that Yak and Yeti does have some very kid friendly options on their children’s menu as well as a few more adventurous things for little ones that love to try new things! So when considering Yak for your dining, you can rest assured that if you have picky little ones, you can find some staples like Mac n cheese or corn dog nuggets on the menu!

Here’s the official breakdown of the child’s menu if you are unsure whether this can be a pleasant dining experience for your entire gang!

Overall

If you are looking to dine here, I think you will find quality in the atmosphere, service, and most definitely food. This is an exotic adventure for the taste buds for those who are willing, but a happy medium for littles or adults that choose more conservative dishes. I think you can find something that will make everyone happy! Also, their signature cocktails and fruit drinks are a wonderful addition to any meal as well! Carving out some time in your schedule for Yak and Yeti will definitely be worth your time anytime you are visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom and dare to brave Asia and Yeti that inhabits its Forbidden Mountain!
